1. The TGIF Scratch Masters, in conjunction with the TGIF Classic 2012, is a mixed competition open to men and women by invitation only.
2. The Scratch Masters event will be offered to all participants of the TGIF Classic using five (5) divisions. The divisions and entry fees for each division shall be as follows:
Division A:
000 to 139
$25
Division B:
140 to 159
$25
Division C:
160 to 179
$30
Division D:
180 to 199
$35
Division E:
200 to 300
$50
3. The Tournament Directors may place a bowler in a higher division at their discretion. Any adjustments of this type will be made before the entrant bowls. The six (6) game scratch total from the Team and Doubles events will be used to determine the eight (8) qualifiers and one (1) alternate for this competition. In case of a tie for 8th position, the scratch score from the first game of the Singles Event will determine the eighth place qualifier. Tournament scores will not carry over to the
Scratch Masters Event.
4. The eight (8) seeded qualifiers in each division will bowl in a set of preliminary matches, bowling one game against each of the other qualifiers, with lane assignments as follows:
Lane # 1-2 Lane # 3-4 Lane # 5-6 Lane # 7-8
Game 1 5 vs. 3 vs. 4 vs. 7 vs. 8 vs. 2 vs. 1 vs 6
Game 2 1 vs. 8 vs. 3 vs. 6 vs. 4 vs. 5 vs. 7 vs. 2
Game 3 7 vs. 3 vs. 1 vs. 5 vs. 6 vs. 2 vs. 4 vs. 8
Game 4 4 vs. 1 vs. 7 vs. 6 vs. 8 vs. 5 vs. 2 vs. 3
During match play, bowlers on lanes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 will also be competing against the bowler on the adjacent lane for that game. For example, in Game 1, the bowler positioned on lane 2 will be matched against the bowlers on lanes 1 and 3, while the bowler on lane 4 will be matched against the bowlers on lanes 3 and 5, and so on. When positioned on lane 1 and 8, bowlers will be matched only against the other bowler on the same pair of lanes.
6. Scoring: Each match won will be worth 30 bonus points. In the event of a tie, 15 bonus points will be awarded to both bowlers. Bonus points will be added to the bowler’s scratch scores bowled during the roll-offs. The top three (3) bowlers will then advance to
a PBA style stair-step final round of two (2) games. The bowlers in positions 2 and 3 will bowl against each other. The winner will then advance to bowl a single game against the bowler in position 1 to determine the champion. In the event of a tie during the final two (2) rounds, an extra 9th and 10th frame roll-off will determine the winner of the match.
7. The games for all divisions will begin at 12:30pm on Sunday, July 8th, 2012 at All-Star Bowl. Participants must check in 30 minutes before the preliminary matches. Bowlers will be allowed ten (10) minutes of practice on any of the eight (8) lanes assigned to his/her division. No open bowling will be allowed prior to the Scratch Masters event.
8. A bowler who is not available to bowl at the scheduled time will be disqualified and the alternate will assume the 8th place seed and the other seeds are advanced accordingly.
9. Payout will be 100% less the lineage. The payout will be 1 in 5 entries with a maximum of 8 places in each division.
10. Any claims of error must be reported before the start of the next match. In case of any claims of error in the final match, the error must be reported within one (1) hour after the end of the match.
